First Day of School

Delaney started school for the first time this week! She had a great first day and there were no tears shed from anyone. We have her in a great school and I think it will be really good for her to be around other kids at this age. She ran into her classroom the first day and went straight for the baby dolls. I had to ask her to give me a kiss bye and even then all she would give me was a side kiss with no eye contact, ha! David went with me to drop her off the first day so I was glad he was able to see her off on her very first day. She was still excited this morning when I told her we were going to school so I'm hoping the excitement lasts. She did cry a little when I picked her up the first day because it was right after their nap and my girl is always a little grumpy when she wakes up. I'm sure she was a little taken aback waking up to a bunch of kids her age and not having any down time. I'm leaving her a little longer after nap today to see if that helps! I also started school this week so we are officially back into the swing of things. Hope everyone is having a great start to the week!

My big girl!

Last week we finally went ahead and turned Delaney's bed into a toddler bed. I was really nervous about this transition because she has always been such a great sleeper and I hated to mess with a good thing! She has done amazing and hasn't gotten up one time at night since we changed her bed over or fallen off the bed! She still gets up about the same time she did before and still sleeps just as good. The funniest part is when she gets up in the morning and were still asleep she comes straight to our door and knocks calling "mommy!!".. It is so cute to wake up to her little voice at the door! Mom and I found her the cutest toddler quilt so she is all fixed up in her new bed!

Baby Talk- 21 Months

Delaney has been talking up a storm for the past month or so and putting together some pretty good sentences. I got the idea of having the same post name to record all of her funny conversations from Morgan over at the Badyrka family blogspot. I thought it was such a great way to record this stuff so I don't forget it later. I was just telling someone the other day that I wish I had started my blog earlier because all the little things that happened when Delaney was a newborn I thought I would never forget and I have! Anyway I wanted to make sure I record this time with her because I know it will go by so fast. So here are a few of the things Delaney has been saying this month:

(while coloring with Gigi) Gigi: This page is done do you want me to turn it to a new page to color?
D: I don't want change page!! (very matter of fact)

Me: (I was looking for my mom in target) Mom?
D: (right behind me) MOM!
Me: Mom?

While in Old Navy I was trying something on her and something happened she looked up and very dramatically said: Oh GOSH!

She also likes to throw in the occasional: Oh Man!

We have been working on using yes mam and no mam lately and she puts so much emphasis on the mam part it is hilarious! Sometimes when I call her now she will say "what" and I say we don't say "what" and she responds with a resounding and usually enthusiastic "MAM!"

After a time out the other day I asked her to apologize to me-
Me: Now tell me your sorry for (I can't remember what it was)
D: Sorry mommy
Me: OK you can go back and play I love you
D: I love you too mom!
Seriously melt my heart!

When David comes home from work D will say: "I miss you Daddy"! (this one you have to tell her to say but it is so sweet!)

I always tell David not to put his recliner up while Delaney is playing because it has these bars under it that she can get hurt on. Now she will go up to him if it's up and say "down!" "down!"

I'm sure I'll think of more to add later but those are just from recent days! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Our first and hopefully last...

Visit to the emergency room! Delaney pulled out a drawer a few nights ago and the face of it broke off when she pulled it and fell on her big toe. When I went to grab her there was blood all over the floor and gushing from her toe. It seemed ok for the next couple of days and then it started getting really red and bleeding again so the nurse was worried it might have an infection and wanted us to go downtown to childrens to have it checked out. I was shocked we were in and out in about an hour and everyone there was so great! Anyway her toe was fine and they said the redness was because it was a soft tissue injury and they also didn't think it was fractured. Delaney was such a ham while we were there and was such a good patient. The doctors commented several times they wished the adults they treated were as calm as she was! Hopefully we will never have to go back!

P.S- Her hospital gown looks like a miniature snuggie!
